Annual Haddon Avenue
Street Festival

This free annual event show-cases entertainers with strong regional and local followings. Vendors line Haddon Avenue between Kaighn's Avenue and Mechanic Streets with food, clothing, jewelry, music and art as well as feature a kid’s fun zone with moon bounce, video truck and pop up basketball games, face painting, and a book festival. Giveaways, health screenings, social services, and food fare are also available.

We will be back next September. Click here to join our email list to keep up to date with announcements for vending opportunities.

Home Ownership Education
(HOPE Institute)

PBCIP’s Hope Institute is a HUD-certified housing counseling agency. Instructor Miosha Lawrence is a NeighborWorks America certified Professional Housing Counselor.

The Hope Institute's FREE Homebuyer Education Course includes six classroom sessions on Wednesday evenings, plus individual sessions with your homeownership counselor scheduled at your convenience.

In class, you'll be with people who share the same goals and dreams you have. Together, you'll cover managing your household budget, improving your credit, finding a great mortgage deal and much more!

You'll also meet privately with PBCIP's Homeownership Coordinator, a nationally certified housing counselor, who will help you set up personalized steps and a timeline to reach your goal of home ownership.  You'll know exactly how and when you'll be ready for the house of your dreams!

When you're ready to buy, PBCIP's homeownership coordinator remains available to answer your questions and be sure you've found the best possible mortgage deal, and the best house for your money.

The next Hope Institute session starts

Wednesday January 15, 2020.

PRIDE Network
PBCIP's Block Captain's Network

Blocks captains meet monthly prior to the PBCIP community meeting. Each of the 55 blocks in Parkside has a designated block captain, though some blocks without a captain are served by someone on a neighboring block.

INTERESTED IN BEING A BLOCK CAPTAIN? PBCIP NEEDS YOU!

Block captains are the link between residents and PBCIP, disseminating timely information about meetings, events or issues of concern that may arise. They also:

  • troubleshoot resident problems and work with PBCIP to connect residents to the resources they need

  • serve as the eyes and ears of PBCIP in the community

  • meet everything from immediate and basic needs to social opportunities to leadership development

Not sure who your block captain is?

Parkside's
Roots to Market

Creating income opportunities through horticulture can attract new gardeners, if there is local support committed to eliminating entry barriers to the fresh foods market. In Camden's Parkside neighborhood, residents receive support in beginning gardens with free resources and workshops call "Rootcamp". Participants benefit from receiving free soil testing, an allotment of fresh soil, raised beds (if required), as well as seeds and seedlings demanded by businesses committed to purchasing over the Summer and Fall months.

The seeds and seedlings are distributed to each grower during Rootcamp programs. The majority of the free programming are administered by existing area organizations and partners, eliminating duplicative efforts in Camden.
